About The Event
Lecture and Artist Workshop led by Artist Anissa Ashkar In the lecture, artist Anisa Ashkar will discuss the body of work she has created over the last two decades and the images that occupy her. Anisa will share her biographical background and how it is reflected in her creations. Additionally, she will address the historical value of ancient cities, such as Acre (her birthplace) and Jerusalem, where she exhibits, as aesthetic spaces from which elements are drawn into her artwork.
Artist Workshop: Inspirations from Islamic Ornamentation In the workshop, we will work inspired by the art and culture of Islam: arabesques, calligraphy, and other aesthetic elements. We will create using diverse materials such as Islamic stencils, paper cuttings, magazines, newspapers, and art books, through which we will produce a work focusing on the connection between text, form, and image.
